Blackfin Rods is located in the city of Stuart on the southeast Florida coast. It is owned and operated by Allen Winchel, who was born and raised in south Florida. He has fished Florida waters and around the world for more than 30 years. Allen is currently a member of the "Team Hydra-Sports" fishing team and has been participating in tournaments for many years. His experience fishing all over the world has prepared and motivated him to design and manufacture a specific rod for any application. His desire to produce the highest quality rods is evident in the products offered.

The rod and rod blanks are fully built by Black Fin in Florida. Almost unheard of in todays fishing rod business.

Stand Up Rods

Stopping the awesome first run of a huge wahoo can be the thrill of a lifetime. Similarly, pumping a big, sounding tuna to the surface is a memorable feat, even if the memory includes the aching muscles two days later. But, doing all this, and more, without the aid of a long rod and fighting chair makes the memories even more special. Enter the "stand up" rods. Stand up rods came on the scene many years ago, but only in the last several years have they become immensely popular. These short, fast taper rods offer the angler the opportunity to literally go one-on-one with some awfully hard fighting fish. And the shortness of the rod makes the fight even more personal.

Reminiscent of the rods produced in the 1970’s, the Phoenix blanks are painted with a white linear polyurethane coating that does not need an epoxy finish and therefore will not yellow like earlier rods. Black Fin has reproduced their most popular rods in the Fin series for these rods and designed a unique wrap that delivers a custom look.
